How does it work?
A switching power supply is an energy conversion system that provides a stable DC voltage by chopping electrical energy at high frequency using an electronic switch, typically a MOSFET.
Energy is temporarily stored in an inductor or transformer, then returned in a controlled manner to the output, while filtering by capacitors ensures voltage stability. Regulation is performed in a closed loop by adjusting the duty cycle of the switching, in order to maintain energy balance despite variations in load or input voltage.
This approach allows for high efficiencies and compact designs, at the cost of increased complexity and special attention to noise phenomena and electromagnetic compatibility.
